Hands down, my favorite thing about Spring is warm rains! Something about a spring rain, makes bad weather so much more bearable! I love the smell of a spring rain. I love jumping in a good puddle, and I tend to leisurely make my way inside, not caring that my hair is getting wet, because it is just such a nice change to the awful winter precipitation!

I love spring cleaning, *sad i know but it's my favorite time of year because I do it for about three days straight - and I know my house is SUPER CLEANED :) and I love...being outside and not wearing a coat! I can't wait to take Gunner on walks....Those earrings are adorable,

ReplyDeleteFirst is the day that I step outside and see the first perennials poking out of the ground. It makes me want to dig in the soil and get going on planning my gardens. I begin to make lists of all my favorite annuals I plan to buy: Sweet Potato Vine, Zinnia, Diascia, Red Fountain Grass, Mandevillia, Lantana, Verbena...the list goes on and on!
My second favorite is our annual tradition of an Easter Egg Hunt here at our home. We have 8 year old twins and a 4 year old, and we have been doing the hunt for the past seven years. It has become a favorite among family and friends, also, as many come from hours away because it's such a fun event. We usually have about 50-60 kids of all ages hunting on our three acres of land, not for just candy, but crafts, school supplies, toys, games, and snacks. The Easter Bunny pays a visit to take photos also. Afterward we serve a buffet-style brunch in our home. This takes a lot of planning and preparation (and our seventh hunt is this Saturday!) but it is my most favorite party to plan.
I think what most excites me about spring is watching the earth wake up. We just bought a house in November, so I've been patiently watching my new yard since March for any signs of life. I was nearly beside myself a few days ago when I discovered a smattering of purple crocuses near our fence line. I feel like this is just a small preview of what's to come. Since I didn't plant any of the flowers in my yard, I feel like every day this spring is going to be like opening a new present. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI love love love spring grass - those first gentle, slender stalks of new grass poking up through the matted grass from last year, the gorgeous light green color you never see any other time of year, the way a few come up ad then masses crop up at once, they was they smell heady but light and delicate all at the same time. There's nothing better than new spring grass.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about spring??? Being able to come home from work, open all of the windows, and have dinner with my husband on our balcony. It's the little things, I suppose:)
Great give-away, Abby! This year, I'm most looking forward to spending the spring getting to know my new son, Jack. I'm off work until June, and I can't wait to go for walks to the park and just enjoy some quality time with him and my hubby!

ReplyDeleteSpring is a great season because it is all about new beginnings. But the most important reason why I love spring is the return of the Sun. I love that. After a cold winter (especially one as cold and long as this one has been here in winter wonderland) it so nice to feel the sunlight on your face and hear the birds sing in the mornings again. Not to mention, the need for sunglasses come back, which is a big plus for me as I love sunglasses more then anything!!
I love SPRING because I can wear flip flops finally and free my feet from those awful socks.
